Join us for our INAUGURAL thought provoking, brain-filling, mouth-watering Social Media Breakfast at Cesars in Oakland.

The San Francisco EAST BAY Social Media Breakfast is organized by Shel Holtz and Kenny Lauer. It brings together social media experts, newcomers and enthusiasts, for a morning of eating, meeting, sharing, and learning.

Marketers, PR pros, entrepreneurs, bloggers, videobloggers, podcasters, students, new-media enthusiasts, Twitterers, community managers, recruiters, and online social networkers are all welcome.

Free to attend (this time). Since it is our inaugural event, we're kicking off these get-togethers with a free breakfast thanks to the generosity of LiveWorld’s sponsorship.

Agenda

The fun will last for 2 hours, focusing on people meeting each other, and our guest speaker telling a story to spark conversation and discussion.

  • 8:00-8:30 am Breakfast, Drink, "Hey How are ya" ?
  • 8:30-9:15 am Presentation and discussion with JD Lasica
  • 9:15-10:00 am Networking, mingling, and We're done!

Speaker bio: JD Lasica, CEO and founder of Socialmedia.biz.

JD Lasica is a social media strategist, entrepreneur, citizen journalist, and author. He is founder of Socialmedia.biz, a news site and enterprise that offers consulting, training and video services to Fortune 500 companies and smaller organizations. He is a founding principal of AdHocnium, a network of leading social media consultants. In a few days JD will also launch Socialbrite.org to support the efforts of nonprofits and social change organizations. And he is organizing a Traveling Geeks trip to London in July with Scoble, Craig Newmark, and others.

JD was co-founder and editorial director of Ourmedia.org, the first video hosting and sharing site. His 2005 book "Darknet: Hollywood's War Against the Digital Generation" explored the emerging medialandscape.

In a previous life, J.D. was an editor at the Sacramento Bee and editorial manager of several Silicon Valley startups. CNET named him one of the 100 top media bloggers in the world. You can find him on Twitter at @jdlasica.

What's JD going to talk about?

JD will touch on recent trends in social media, the meteor hurtling toward the news industry, and the need for a collaborative resource center around social media. But we want to make this a conversation rather than a speech, so bring your questions and comments.

Special guest
